# Order Multiplier Products Order Multiplier Products are virtual Shopify products that your customers can add to their cart to multiply their giveaway entries. Instead of giving away bonus entries for free, you can **sell** multipliers — turning your giveaway into a revenue driver. When a customer purchases an order multiplier product alongside their regular items, the multiplier automatically applies to their entry calculation. ## Two Types of Multipliers ### Upgrade Multiplier An Upgrade Multiplier **replaces** the current multiplier for the entire order. All other bonuses (product bonuses, bonus period multipliers, order bonuses, discount code bonuses) are ignored — the upgrade takes over completely. **Example:** A customer places an order during a 25X bonus period and adds a "100X Upgrade" product to their cart. Instead of earning entries at 25X, their entire order earns entries at 100X. **Best for:** Letting customers jump to a higher entry tier than whatever bonus is currently running. ### Super Multiplier A Super Multiplier **multiplies the final entry count** after all other bonuses and calculations have been applied. It stacks on top of everything. **Example:** A customer's order earns 250 entries (after base entries, bonus period, order bonuses, etc.). They also purchased a "10X Super Multiplier" — their final total becomes 2,500 entries. **Best for:** Offering a premium "multiply everything" add-on that layers on top of your existing bonus structure. ## Setting Up Order Multiplier Products 1. Open **Giveaway Gator** in your Shopify admin. 2. Go to **Order Multipliers** from the navigation. 3. Click **Create Multiplier Product**. 4. Fill in the details: - **Product Name**: What customers will see in your store (e.g., "10X Entry Multiplier"). - **Multiplier Value**: How much to multiply entries by (minimum 2). - **Multiplier Type**: Choose **Upgrade** or **Super** (see above). 5. Click **Create**. Giveaway Gator automatically creates a virtual product in your Shopify store with an auto-generated SKU. The product description is set based on the multiplier type so customers understand what they're buying. ### Using an Existing Shopify Product If you already have a product you'd like to use as a multiplier (e.g., a "VIP Entry Boost" product you've already designed), you can configure it as an order multiplier without creating a new one. Use the **Configure Existing Product** option and select the Shopify product, then set the multiplier value and type. ## Managing Multiplier Products From the Order Multipliers page, you can: - **Edit** the multiplier value on any product - **Publish or unpublish** — Toggle the product's availability in your Shopify store (published = ACTIVE, unpublished = DRAFT) - **Delete** — Removes the multiplier product from both Giveaway Gator and Shopify ## How It Affects Entry Calculations Order multiplier products are excluded from the base entry calculation — their price doesn't count toward the dollar-per-entry math. They only affect the multiplier applied to entries. Here's how each type fits into the [entry calculation hierarchy](entry-math.md): **Upgrade Multiplier:** 1. Base entries are calculated normally (dollar-per-entry) 2. All other bonuses are **skipped** (product bonuses, bonus periods, order bonuses, discount codes, checkout bonuses) 3. Final total = Base Entries × Upgrade Multiplier **Super Multiplier:** 1. All steps of the normal calculation run (base entries, product bonuses, bonus periods, order bonuses, discount codes, checkout bonuses) 2. At the very end, the Super Multiplier is applied 3. Final total = Normal Total × Super Multiplier ## Example Calculations ### With an Upgrade Multiplier A customer places a $100 order during a 10X bonus period and purchases a "50X Upgrade" product: | Step | Calculation | Result | |------|-------------|--------| | Base entries | $100 / $1 per entry | 100 entries | | Upgrade Multiplier active | Skips all other bonuses | — | | Apply upgrade | 100 × 50 | **5,000 entries** | Without the upgrade, the customer would have earned 1,000 entries (100 × 10X bonus period). The upgrade replaced the 10X with 50X. ### With a Super Multiplier A customer places a $100 order during a 10X bonus period with a $100+ order bonus of 50 entries, and purchases a "5X Super Multiplier": | Step | Calculation | Result | |------|-------------|--------| | Base entries | $100 / $1 per entry | 100 entries | | Bonus period | 10X active → 100 × 10 | 1,000 entries | | Order bonus | $100 meets threshold → +50 | 1,050 entries | | Super Multiplier | 1,050 × 5 | **5,250 entries** | The Super Multiplier stacked on top of everything else. ## Tips - **Price your multipliers strategically.** Since customers are paying for the multiplier, consider the value proposition — a $5 product that gives 10X entries can feel like a great deal during a high-stakes giveaway. - **Use Upgrade Multipliers for simplicity.** They give customers a clean, easy-to-understand value: "Buy this, get 100X entries." No need to think about what other bonuses are running. - **Use Super Multipliers for power users.** They reward customers who are already maximizing their entries through bonus periods and order bonuses. - **Only one multiplier per type applies per order.** If a customer somehow adds multiple multiplier products to their cart, the highest value of each type is used. - **Multiplier products appear in audit logs.** You can see exactly which multiplier was applied to any order from the order entries audit in your Shopify admin.
